I post a lot of gifs and graphics I make and I have a soft spot for videogames (gotta let my inner nerd out), TV series and fictional characters in general. You can click here if you wanna know more useless information about me.

Nebula’s Frozen Clouds at Heart of Violent Star Formation
The stellar factories are 7,500 light years away in the Carina Nebula. The 150 light-year-wide object contains dense fields of hydrogen gas and dust that, when they collapse, spawn extremely large, bright and short-lived stars. Just a few million years later they detonate as supernovas. By comparison, our much-smaller sun may last for another 5 billion years. The cataclysmic blasts push nearby gas into denser masses, sparking the birth of more stars.

“Look closely and you’ll see two moving objects in this footage. The most obvious one is a meteor however, more subtly in the middle towards the top right, there’s a small object moving slowly up and that is a fuselage of a Russian rocket breaking up in the upper atmosphere.”

Artist’s impression of sunset on the super-Earth world Gliese 667 Cc by European Southern Observatory on Flickr.
Via Flickr: This artist’s impression shows a sunset seen from the super-Earth Gliese 667 Cc. The brightest star in the sky is the red dwarf Gliese 667 C, which is part of a triple star system. The other two more distant stars, Gliese 667 A and B appear in the sky also to the right. Astronomers have estimated that there are tens of billions of such rocky worlds orbiting faint red dwarf stars in the Milky Way alone.
